FISHERMAN-HUNTERS-HIKERS
NOTICE
If you go too far, can't find camp, forget your compass --by Joe Hackett
16
Things to Remember:
1. YOU ARE NOT LOST
(camp is lost)
2. YOU LEFT WORD WHERE YOU WERE GOING
(well, didn't you?)
3. FIRE THREE QUICK SHOTS
(you will probably hit someone in camp)
4. START A FIRE
(with wet matches you forgot to bring)
5. HEAD SOUTH
(Florida is closer than Alaska)
6. CHECK MOSS ON TREES
(heavier on northside - or is it south?)
7. DON'T EAT ALL YOUR FOOD TODAY
(if you thought to bring any)
8. DON'T CROSS ON ICE
(an olive in a martini you ain't)
9. DON'T WAIT ON RAILROAD TRACKS
(last train was January, 1972)
10. DON'T SCREAM
(Panthers, Mountain Lions and Bobcats hate competition)
11. WALK, DON'T RUN
(a search party will be too tired to chase you)
12. FOLLOW FRESH TRACKS
(they will probably be your own)
13. DON'T FOLLOW SUN ALL DAY
(it moves)
14. IF YOU HEAR A NOISE, DON'T SHOOT
(search parties are easily discouraged)
15. FOLLOW RUNNING WATER SOWN STREAM
(the other end gets awfully small)
16. BUT - ABOVE ALL - DON'T PANIC
(we may have to hog tie you to bring you back to camp)
