The Ghostly Fisherman
By Francis Betters

The waters cast reflections from the past of fishermen whose dreams were left behind. The starlight that pays tribute from afar gives credence when there was another time.

The shadows of the past still live today; their footprints on the streams won't wash away. Their festive moods, their laughter, and their tears will never be diminished by the years.

Each fisherman who fishes round each bend, or rests upon each rock, will find a friend. And in the years ahead when others play his spirit will be waiting there to say:

Take heed, my friend, enjoy this while you may, for all things that are mortal must decay. Nothing can withstand the test of time, but memories of those dreams still left behind.

The time approaches fast when you must go for pleasures that you reap, then you must sow. That final cast should be a favorite dream, then join the ghostly fishermen of the stream.
